Dussehra (Dasara) is a famous Indian festival which reveals a message for the celebration of the victory of good over evil. The festival is marked on the 10th day of the bright half of the month of Ashwayuja, according to the calendar and this year Dussehra falls on 11th October 2016. Many of the Indian festivals are related to great epics like #Ramayana and #Mahabharata. Dussehra is one of the main festive and this is known by different name across the country. In fact, it is believed that the war between Rama and Ravana went on during these 10 days and Ravana was killed by the hands of Rama on the tenth day. Also the day marks the victory of Durga over the demon Mahishasura.
It is believed that the celebration of Dussehra started in the 17th century, when the king of Mysore ordered the celebration of the day on a grand scale. Ever since, the day is celebrated with great fervor and energy. There are a lot of mythological tales associated with the day.
Dussehra is celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence throughout India by all.
